We’re pleased to represent an established client in the search for an experienced Executive Housekeeper to join a private residence in Manhattan’s West Village. Demonstrated long-term experience working directly for an ultra-high-net-worth family in a luxury private residence is required.

Personal Presentation

This is an aesthetically discerning private household, and personal presentation matters. The successful candidate must be impeccably groomed, exceptionally well presented, and consistently dressed to the standards of the home, with a sophisticated understanding of personal appearance. This person must also maintain a high level of physical fitness and energy and be comfortable assisting with hands-on household responsibilities when needed.

The right person must be poised, highly self-assured, and exceptionally thoughtful in how they communicate. They know how to read the room and adjust easily to changes in direction, priorities, or tone without becoming unsettled. They must be comfortable receiving direct feedback, responding with quiet confidence, and respectful professionalism by redirecting a conversation when appropriate.

Professional Expertise

The successful candidate must possess:

•   Expert knowledge of housekeeping and laundry skills

•   Expert knowledge of wardrobe and fine-fabric care

•   Strong organizational and household-management abilities

•   Experience coordinating household vendors, service providers, preventative maintenance, and repairs

•   The ability to anticipate household needs, exercise sound judgment, and solve problems independently

•   Excellent written and spoken English

•   Conversational Spanish

Primary Responsibilities

You’ll serve as the operational eyes and ears of the residence, recognizing maintenance concerns before they become larger issues, coordinating qualified service providers, scheduling preventative maintenance, and ensuring every aspect of the home continues to function at the highest level.

You’ll also oversee household inventories and supplies, receive deliveries, coordinate returns, pack and unpack luggage for travel, coordinate dry cleaning and tailoring, maintain the principal’s wardrobe, prepare the residence before and after travel, and anticipate the principal’s daily needs with minimal direction.

As part of the day-to-day management of the residence, you’ll maintain preventative maintenance schedules, coordinate vendor appointments, oversee service visits, maintain service records, follow up to ensure work is completed properly, and keep the principal informed of significant household issues or recommendations. You’ll also assist with seasonal maintenance and ongoing household improvement projects.

Preventative maintenance and vendor coordination will include:

• HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems

• Kitchen and laundry appliances

• Home automation, lighting, and automated shade systems

• Whole-home audio, video, entertainment, internet, and Wi-Fi systems

• Painting, carpentry, locksmiths, and other household vendors as needed

The ideal candidate understands that maintaining a luxury residence is about anticipating needs rather than reacting to problems.

Household Technology

Experience working in a technologically sophisticated private residence is highly desirable.

Candidates should be comfortable operating and overseeing:

• Crestron and Lutron home automation systems

• Smart lighting and automated shade controls

• Whole-home audio, video, entertainment, internet, and Wi-Fi systems, including Apple TV, AirPlay, distributed speaker systems, and integrated AV controls

• Premium residential appliances, including Sub-Zero, Wolf, Miele, Gaggenau, and similar luxury brands

You should, however, be comfortable recognizing when something is not functioning properly, performing basic troubleshooting when appropriate, and coordinating qualified vendors or service technicians to ensure issues are resolved promptly and properly.

Leadership



This is a working leadership position. You’ll maintain a visible presence throughout the residence, lead by example, and step in alongside the housekeeping team when additional hands-on support is needed.

You’ll help train, mentor, and support the team, organize daily priorities, reinforce household procedures, maintain quality-control standards, and help create an environment where everyone understands what is expected and takes pride in their work.
